Stripe & PayPal Address Verification with a Phone Bill

When Stripe or PayPal requests address verification, a carrier-issued phone bill is a standard accepted document type alongside utility bills and bank statements — here's what it needs to show.

Stripe & PayPal Address Verification with a Phone Bill

Why Stripe or PayPal suddenly asks for address proof

Both platforms can trigger an address-verification request mid-review rather than only at signup — usually after a risk flag (a volume spike, a mismatch between your LLC filing and your account profile, or a periodic compliance re-check). The request typically comes with a short list of accepted document types, and a phone or mobile bill sits alongside utility bills and bank statements on that list.

Why this matters specifically for non-resident LLCs

A Wyoming or Delaware LLC owned by a non-resident has no household utility account to draw on — there's no electricity or gas bill in the company's name because there's no physical residence. A registered agent address, by itself, doesn't generate a utility bill either. A genuine carrier phone bill, billed to the LLC at a consistent business address, fills that specific gap with a document type the platforms explicitly accept.

What the document needs to show

Consistency is what reviewers check, not the document format:

  • Legal business name matching your LLC filing and your Stripe/PayPal account registration
  • A billing address consistent with the address on file with the platform
  • A current billing cycle date — not your very first invoice, and not an outdated one
  • An account/reference number that ties the bill to an active, ongoing service

This doesn't replace fixing the underlying reserve trigger

If a PayPal hold or Stripe review was triggered by something else — a volume spike, a business category flag, or a prior dispute pattern — submitting address proof answers one specific document request, not necessarily the whole review. Respond to every requested document completely, and expect that a hold tied to a risk flag (rather than purely a missing-document flag) may take longer to release even after address verification is accepted.

How HynoGo helps

HynoGo's HynoConnect real US carrier line gives non-resident founders a genuine billing statement to use for exactly this kind of request, and we keep your LLC name and address consistent across your formation documents, EIN letter, and payment platform applications so the verification document actually matches everything else Stripe or PayPal has on file.
